You don’t have to wait an hour for the beets to cook: the vegetable can be ready in 5 minutes

Salads with beets are to the taste of many, but there is not always time to bother with cooking this healthy vegetable – it usually takes 1.5-2 hours. Moreover, you need to constantly monitor so that the water does not boil away.

Of course, you can bake the beets in the oven, wrapped in foil. Then the vegetable will turn out even tastier than boiled in water. But you will have to keep the oven on for 1-1.5 hours.

There is another way – to cook the beets in a pressure cooker. This will take approximately 30 minutes.

In fact, it is possible to do everything in 5 minutes, for which you need to use a microwave oven. To do this, wash the beets and cut off the tops. Pierce in several places to prevent cracking under high temperature.

Place vegetables in a plastic bag. Add half a glass of water. Tie at the top and pierce with a skewer in several places to release excess pressure. Place on a plate and microwave.

Steam will circulate inside the bag, which will significantly speed up the cooking process. Set the highest power. If you have 500 g of beets, 5 minutes will be enough, if 700 g – 8 minutes, 900 g – 10 minutes. For a kilogram or more it will take 15 minutes.

Remove the beets and check for doneness by piercing them with a toothpick. If it goes in easily, it means the vegetable is ready. You can cook potatoes and carrots in the same way.
