Humanity has learned to use many spices throughout its history, but salt will forever remain a favorite.

Salt is the most common spice on the planet. Every housewife has it. This seasoning is used in all dishes, even desserts, due to its ability to enhance flavors. In addition, it is even used when cleaning the house as an abrasive.

At the same time, salt also has another property – hygroscopicity – it absorbs water, which is why it literally turns into stone. In this case, it is very difficult to use the spice for its intended purpose.

The easiest way to solve this problem is to use brute force, that is, simply break the salt stone. But you can go the other way – dry the salt.

As soon as the spice gets rid of excess moisture, it will turn into sand again. There are several easy ways to dry salt from moisture – in the oven or in the microwave.

How to dry salt in the oven – 15 minutes and you’re done

This is a very simple and easy way to return spices to their original appearance.

What is needed for this:

  • preheat the oven to approximately 50-60 degrees;
  • If possible, spread the salt in a thin layer on the parchment with which you need to cover the baking sheet;
  • Dry the spice in the oven for about 10-15 minutes.

If you have poured a lot of salt onto the baking sheet or you need to speed up the drying process, then you can stir the seasoning gently. This will allow the salt to dry evenly.

When the process is complete, the spices must be given time to cool. This method will not only quickly solve the problem of damp salt, but also preserve its taste.

How to dry salt in the microwave – the one-minute method

If for some reason it is not possible to use the oven to dry the salt, then you can turn on the microwave. This method will be even faster.

What should be done:

  1. Distribute the spice clumps in an even thin layer on the plate.
  2. Set the power to low, otherwise the salt will burn.
  3. The seasoning needs to be heated for about 30-60 seconds.

After time has passed, check the salt; if it is still wet, the procedure can be repeated. The main thing is to make sure that the spice does not overheat.
