How to Make Coffee Tomato Pasta Sauce

Coffee tomato sauce is very easy to prepare:

  • brew strong espresso;
  • heat a little vegetable or butter in a saucepan;
  • add tomato paste, a little water or broth and mix well;
  • simmer for one or two minutes over low heat;
  • add salt, finely chopped garlic and your favorite spices, simmer for another two minutes;
  • pour coffee into the sauce (a tablespoon of coffee is enough for one serving of pasta), stir and turn off the heat after a minute.

Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked pasta. If your tomato paste is too acidic, adding coffee will neutralize the excess acid, so you don’t have to add sugar to the sauce.
