The benefits of vitamin D can hardly be overestimated, because it is important for the functioning of the thyroid gland, reproductive system, intestines and skin.

In autumn and winter, many Ukrainians become deficient in vitamin D. Some people start taking it in the form of medications. But if it is not combined correctly with other vitamins, it will not do any good.

RBC-Ukraine writes about what vitamin D should not be taken with, citing a post by endocrinologist Olga Ryzhenko on Instagram.

What are the benefits of vitamin D?

“With the arrival of autumn, there are fewer sunny days and in most cases we work or study indoors. Increasingly, there is a tendency to viral diseases, constant fatigue or bad mood. And these are signs of vitamin D deficiency,” says the doctor.

She adds that the benefits of vitamin D can hardly be overestimated, because it is important for the functioning of the thyroid gland, reproductive system, intestines and skin.

“According to research, it can prevent brittle bones in adulthood, depression and even cancer. But the benefits of vitamin D may be zero if it is taken with vitamins that neutralize its effect,” Ryzhenko warns.

What should you not combine vitamin D with?

Vitamin D cannot be combined in one dose from:

  • vitamins A and K1 – when taken simultaneously with vitamin D, they neutralize each other
  • vitamin E – it impairs absorption in the intestines

“But phosphorus, calcium and magnesium, vitamin C and Omega 3, together with vitamin D, are perfectly compatible and will only enhance each other. Therefore, it is important to know the compatibility with other vitamins in order to benefit,” says the endocrinologist.

You should consult your doctor before taking any vitamins. If necessary, he will prescribe tests to identify deficiencies, and based on the results, he will select a vitamin complex in accordance with the individual needs of your body.
