What words, actions or inactions kill a couple’s relationship?

The psychologist named the seven most common causes of problems in partnerships. Dr Lalita Suglani, a licensed psychologist from Birmingham, in her Instagram post spoke about the main problems that kill a couple’s relationship.

She explained that relationships require effort on both sides, and that looks different for each person. Dr. Lalitha added that relationships are always work and always a process.

The doctor identified 7 main things that can kill a relationship:

  • talk indirectly about your desires and needs;
  • trying to get another person to change the way you want;
  • don’t try to understand your partner’s point of view;
  • withdraw during disagreements and difficult conversations, use disrespectful language;
  • do not apologize or take responsibility;
  • not have a life outside of relationships, such as hobbies, meetings with friends;
  • ignore your partner’s traumas, triggers, or past experiences.

The doctor also asked people to leave comments about which of the seven points they particularly liked. And she recommended that if you cannot establish relationships on your own, you should seek help from a specialist.
