How to choose a coat that will not lose its relevance for several seasons.

The ideal coat, according to stylist Oksana Matskiv, is a classic coat made exclusively from natural fabric. It can be made of cashmere, wool interspersed with viscose, but it should not contain polyester.

This could be an unstructured coat – that’s what the stylist called products that come without lining or shoulder pads. The silhouette of such coats is a cocoon coat, a robe coat or a wrap coat. Most often, such coats come with a belt, which gives the figure an hourglass shape. “The important point is that the fabric in such coats should flow,” and they also come without buttons.

How to choose a coat

Another category is rigid structured coats with lining and shoulder pads, which never have a belt, because it only spoils the silhouette, giving it extra volume. These coats usually have buttons.

What details should you pay attention to when choosing a coat?

When choosing outerwear, it is important to pay attention to the size and shape of the lapels, their relationship with the size of the face and their features. For small facial features, small lapels are suitable; for a larger face, larger lapels are also suitable. You should not choose a coat with lapels that are too wide, too elongated or, conversely, short – they send you back to the past.

An equally important element of an ideal coat are buttons. To make this piece of outerwear look expensive, the buttons should match the coat, black or tortoiseshell. It is they who add high cost to the product.

How to choose the right coat length?

According to the stylist, length plays an important role when choosing a coat for years. It is better to choose a coat of classic length – this is the length that will make a woman slimmer. The optimal length is either one palm above the knee, or 2-4 cm below the knee; midi-length coats have the most luxurious look.

To summarize, the stylist noted that when choosing a coat, it is better to pay attention to classic models that have remained relevant for decades. “Some legendary models from Max Mara remain relevant for 50-60 years. If you are not sure that you want to move towards crazy decor, overlays, combinations of different colors or fabrics in a coat, then the simpler and more laconic the model, the more expensive the look she will have.”
