Meatballs with sauce is a classic Italian dish that every housewife knows how to cook.
Cooking meatballs in tomato sauce is not at all difficult, and the secret lies in the minced meat: a few real, high-quality ingredients and we will get a truly tasty and rich result. So we use good mince (beef or even mixed if you like), put it in a bowl and gradually add the rest of the ingredients: we start with the egg, grated cheese, chopped parsley and salt to taste.
This is a complete main course that can be eaten alone or, if you prefer, accompanied by a light side dish, such as a simple green salad. The recipe was shared on the Fatto in casa da Benedetta website.
If we want a creamier, more enveloping sauce, we dredge the meatballs in flour before browning them in the pan.
Meatballs with sauce
Ingredients:
- 500 g minced meat;
- one egg;
- 30 g grated cheese;
- parsley;
- milk – 10 ml;
- bread crumbs – 120 g;
- fine salt.
For the sauce:
- small onion;
- one carrot;
- tomato puree – 400 g;
- olive oil;
- fine salt;
- ½ glass of white wine.
Preparation:
- Place the minced meat in a bowl, add salt, then add the egg, grated cheese, some chopped parsley and mix well.
- We also add milk.
- Mix together a little and add breadcrumbs, kneading with your hands until a homogeneous and not too soft mass is obtained.
- You can use stale bread instead of breadcrumbs: take two slices and soak them in the milk specified in the recipe.
- Let’s form meatballs in our hands. Just remember to wet your palms with water. The ideal size is about the size of a walnut.
- In a frying pan, fry the chopped onions and carrots in a little oil.
- Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides, turning occasionally.
- At this stage, add the wine and let it evaporate.
- Pour in tomato puree and season with salt.
- Finally, cover and let cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Our meatballs with sauce are ready.
