To salt or not: how to properly boil eggs for perfect results

It is difficult to imagine something simpler and more popular in the kitchen than boiled eggs. They are prepared for breakfast, as a snack and for adding to salads. Any guide on how to boil eggs always includes adding salt.

This is usually recommended so that they can be cleaned better. But for this you just need not to take the product of the first freshness and cook it over low heat. Why add salt when boiling eggs, really?

How much salt to put in water when boiling eggs and why add it

Add salt based on the amount of water. Remember how much to salt eggs when boiling: for each liter you need to add 1 tsp. white powder. There are two objective reasons to add salt to water:

Salt water has a higher density, which helps heat distribute evenly during cooking and prevents eggs from hitting the walls of the cookware. Since all chemical bonds are electrical in nature, salt water helps the white in the egg to unfold and cook faster.

Now that we have found out why we add salt and have learned the necessary proportions in its use, the question remains with the cooking time. How long to boil the eggs depends on the result you want:

  • soft-boiled – 2 minutes after boiling;
  • into a bag – 4 minutes after boiling;
  • hard-boiled – 7 minutes.

According to many experts, this product is an ideal protein for breakfast or other meals. It is recommended to balance it with plenty of vegetables. Nutritionists have also debunked doubts about whether it is possible to eat eggs with salt. There are no contraindications to this, and therefore you can safely use all the spices you like to change the taste of the dish.
