Recipe

Ingredients:

  • flour – 2.5 cups;
  • baking powder – 10 g;
  • water – 1.5 cups;
  • cocoa – 1 tsp;
  • cinnamon – to taste;
  • raisins – 0.5 cups;
  • prunes or dried apricots – 1 cup;
  • nuts (any you have) – 50 g;
  • large apple – 1 pc.;
  • odorless vegetable oil – 80 ml.

Preparation

  1. Rinse raisins and prunes in a sieve under running water. Place in a bowl, pour boiling water over it and leave for half an hour. You can use any other dried fruit you like if you wish.
  2. Sift flour together with baking powder.
  3. In a deep bowl, combine hot water, cocoa, cinnamon and vegetable oil. Add flour and knead into a smooth dough.
  4. Cut the prunes and apple into small cubes. It is not necessary to peel the apple first.
  5. If using walnuts, crush them with a rolling pin. There is no need to grind almond flakes and pine nuts. Chop other nuts with a knife or in a blender.
  6. Add the apples, dried fruits and most of the nuts to the batter and mix well. Reserve 1-2 tablespoons of chopped nuts for sprinkling.
  7. Prepare a baking dish. To do this, grease the bottom and sides of the mold with vegetable oil. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  8. Pour the dough into the pan, sprinkle with the remaining nuts and bake for about 25 minutes. Check the readiness of the pie with a wooden skewer: make a puncture in the center of the pie through the entire thickness and pull out the skewer.

The pie is ready if there is no raw dough left on the skewer. If the cake is not yet baked and the edges are starting to burn, cover the pan with a sheet of parchment or foil (matte side down).

Remove the finished cake from the mold and cool on a wire rack. After cooling, cut into portions. If desired, the finished pie can be sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
