The cost of a Christmas tree depends on the manufacturer and characteristics of the tree – material, height, type of assembly.

More and more Ukrainians are abandoning live Christmas trees in favor of artificial ones in order to preserve green spaces. And those who still prefer to smell pine needles at home can use special sprays. RBC-Ukraine talks about how to choose an artificial Christmas tree that will last for decades.

Decide on the type of tree, height and color

First, decide what kind of tree you would like to buy – an artificial Christmas tree or a pine tree. The first has a cone-shaped crown, the branches are directed downwards, so they hide the trunk. Pine branches point upward, so they do not cover the trunk. Distinctive features are also elongated needles and an oval crown.

Trees with a height of 0.9 m are suitable for installation in cramped apartments with little free space. And Christmas trees 1.2-1.8 m high are usually chosen by families with children to create a truly festive atmosphere.

Also decide on the color of the tree. In addition to the fact that they come in all shades of green, they can also be white, silver, gray and snow-sprayed.

Consider material safety

The material determines how long the Christmas tree will last you.

Christmas trees are made from:

  • monofilament thread. This is a tough but high-quality material that gives the wood a fluffy feel. Pines are mainly made from it
  • PVC films are soft, but not of such high quality. This option is slightly cheaper than the previous one. Christmas trees are mainly made from it.
  • polypropylene. This is the best material for creating artificial Christmas trees. It imitates a living tree as accurately as possible and, with careful use, lasts for decades.

Select build type

When buying a Christmas tree, you should choose the type of assembly that will not be difficult for you to handle. There are three types:

  1. fastening branches with hooks. With this type, each branch is attached to the trunk, so harvesting the tree takes a long time. There is also a risk that some part of the tree may get lost. But such a tree is convenient to store
  2. with a hinge mechanism. They fold and unfold like umbrellas. The products are easy to use, but there is a risk that the mechanism may break. These wood options are the most expensive
  3. non-removable Christmas trees are considered the most reliable, but they are inconvenient to transport and store

Check the quality certificate

Before purchasing, you should ask the seller about the availability of quality certificates. All high-quality artificial spruce trees are treated with a special substance that prevents the product from igniting. Therefore, such trees can be safely decorated with garlands and not be afraid that they will burst into flames. It is also important that a high-quality tree should not have the smell of plastic or any chemicals.

How much do artificial Christmas trees cost now?

The cost of a Christmas tree depends on the manufacturer and characteristics of the tree – material, height, type of assembly.

Trees with a height of 1.3 m – cost from 900 UAH. Before purchasing, you should monitor the prices of the model you choose from different sellers. You should not buy goods on the Internet; it is better to go to the store to check how the tree needles feel to the touch.

The most expensive option among artificial Christmas trees are products made from polypropylene. As we have already said, with careful care they can last for decades. These cost an average of 4 thousand for a tree 1.8 m in height. Their cost can reach almost 8 thousand UAH.
