If you’re looking to add some flair to a classic hot dog, try this recipe.
To get away from the traditional combination of sausage in bread with ketchup and mustard, we suggest you prepare a special sauce. Apple chutney goes very well with white sausages, but if you prefer any other sausages, those will work too.
Recipe
Ingredients:
- sausages
- apples
- butter
- cinnamon
- Chile
- honey
- whole grain mustard
- baguette
- walnuts
Making chutney sauce
- Peel and chop the apples and sauté in butter. Pour a pinch of cinnamon and chili powder into the roast, add some herbs and honey and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Place the sausages in boiling water for a couple of minutes, remove, cool and remove the skin. Cut them into circles; if the sausages are thin, you can cut them lengthwise and spread mustard on each part.
Cooking a hot dog
Place the slanted French baguette slices on a baking sheet and dry in the oven. Pour the apple chutney over the bread, garnish with sausage slices on top, put back in the oven for a few minutes and, after removing, sprinkle with crushed walnuts.
