Propolis is widely used in folk medicine as a wound-healing, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral agent.

Bee products are famous for their usefulness. They are widely used in folk medicine – honey is eaten for colds and sore throats, and bee pollen is used to strengthen the immune system. But are these foods really that healthy?

The answer to this question is given by RBC-Ukraine with reference to a post by coach Yuri Popko on Instagram.

Is honey good for you?

In short, honey is no better than sugar. The difference between these products is insignificant only in the ratio of glucose and fructose content. Honey also contains a large amount of vitamins and microelements, but the doses are tiny. Unless you eat honey with spoons to get your daily requirement. But this is stupid, because in this case you will significantly exceed the dose of sugar of 50 g, of which 30 g is fructose, and it negatively affects the liver,” says the expert.

At the same time, Popko notes that honey has a slight antibacterial effect.

“In other words, replacing sugar with honey is unwise. But there are other bee products that are much healthier than honey,” the trainer notes.

What you need to know about royal jelly

“It contains hormones, that is, it has a powerful rejuvenating effect, it also contains a large set of amino acids, all B vitamins. It is recommended for adults with hypertension, digestive disorders, stress, in the postpartum period, with seborrhea of the facial skin,” says Popko.

Royal jelly is also used to improve appetite, and after serious illnesses as a general tonic, and also to regulate blood pressure.

“That is, it is a natural immunomodulator that has a positive effect on the body’s protective function,” explains the expert.

Should you eat pollen?

“Pollen contains a set of amino acids, as well as more than 100 enzymes that have a positive effect on the digestive system. Pollen also contains phytohormones, carotenoids, flavonoids, which have an antimicrobial and antiviral effect. Pollen also contains a whole range of vitamins and minerals. That is, it is a universal product from many diseases,” says Popko.

Pollen is used to increase immunity, maintain tone, normalize vision, digestion and cleanse the body of toxins.

Is beebread useful?

“Beebread is better absorbed by the human body than pollen, and acts more effectively due to the presence of biologically active substances in it in a balanced form. Beebee also lasts longer without losing its valuable properties. Beebee contains much more vitamins than pollen, in particular A, B , E, K,” says the expert.

Popko adds that beebread contains 16 amino acids, 13 types of fatty acids and iron.

Is it worth adding propolis to your diet?

“Bees produce propolis in the form of a sticky mixture of various resinous substances, balms, collected from buds, stems and leaves,” the trainer notes.

Propolis is widely used in folk medicine as a wound-healing, antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral agent.

“To summarize, all beekeeping products are super, except honey. They are best taken in the morning 30 minutes before meals. Allergy sufferers should note that these products can cause allergies,” warns Popko.
