Many people think that vitamin C needs to be taken in large quantities to stimulate the immune system and reduce the risk of getting ARVI. However, this is a myth.

You should know that when large doses of vitamin C enter the body, its absorption in the intestines is reduced, and excesses are quickly eliminated.

Oranges contain the most vitamins

The best source of vitamin C – lemons and oranges – is a myth. In fact, citrus fruits are rich in ascorbic acid, but they are far from the first place. Leaders in vitamin C content: rose hips, sweet peppers and black currants.

Vitamin C reduces cancer risk

It is also a myth that taking vitamin C helps reduce the risk of developing cancer.

The nutritionist says that there is no evidence-based scientific research that has in any way confirmed the relationship between vitamin C hypovitaminosis and the risk of developing cancer.

The daily value of vitamin C differs:

  • for women – 75 mg
  • for men – 90 mg
  • for children 5-8 years old – 25 mg
  • children 8-13 years old – 45 mg
  • adolescents 14-18 years old – 65-75 mg

Add another 35 mg of vitamin to normal if you smoke. After all, smoking reduces the amount of vitamin C in the body.
