Dutch meatloaf: an excellent dish for a holiday table

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Minced beef – 1 kg
  • Bread 180 g
  • Milk 250 g
  • Salt to your taste
  • Black pepper (ground) to your taste
  • Nutmeg – 0.25 teaspoon
  • Coriander – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Green onions – 30 g
  • Hard cheese – 150 g
  • Eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Breadcrumbs – 2 tbsp. spoons
  • Water – 50 ml
  • Bay leaf – 1 pc.
  • Black peppercorns – 3 pcs.
  • Sunflower oil – to your taste
  • Onion – 1 pc.

Preparation:

  1. To make the roll very juicy, it needs to be cooked on a bed of onions. We also recommend pouring water into the bottom of the baking dish and adding bay leaves and allspice for flavor.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and pour milk. Knead the bread, turning it into a paste.
  3. Wash the green onions and chop them. Grate the hard cottage cheese on a fine grater. Add cheese and green onions to the bread.
  4. Add salt, ground black pepper, nutmeg and ground coriander. Mix everything well. Add eggs and add breadcrumbs. Mix everything well again.
  5. Place the minced meat into the prepared mixture and stir until smooth.
  6. Peel the onion and cut into quarters. Place on the bottom of the pan, greased with oil. With wet hands, form the minced meat into two large rolls. We put them in the form on the onion.
  7. Pour water into the mold. Add allspice peas and bay leaves. Place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 60 minutes.
  8. Cut the finished roll into portions and serve with a side dish on the table.
