If you love desserts, but have not eaten a balanced diet before, then a sharp refusal may cause you negative emotions

When a person begins to eat properly, most often sweets disappear from his diet. However, at the same time, quite often desserts become the products on which people “break down”. RBC-Ukraine, with reference to a post by nutritionist Olesya Dobryanskaya on Instagram, tells why it is better to leave sweets in the diet and how not to “break out” on them.

Why desserts should be included in the diet

According to Dobryanskaya, in some cases, strict refusal of favorite foods can lead to overeating by others. And a little later there is a breakdown on “forbidden” foods.

Another downside to completely eliminating sweets from your diet is stress and anxiety. If you love desserts, but haven’t eaten a balanced diet before, then a sharp refusal may cause you negative emotions. Thus, even a good habit of healthy eating will become real hard labor.

“Anything is possible! Balance is important,” the expert emphasizes.

What to do if sweets are a “forbidden” product

If you still decide to eat a balanced and healthy diet, but constantly indulge in sweets, Olesya Dobryanskaya gives some advice:

  • do not eat a “stagnant” product (and this can be not only sweets) on an empty stomach. Save it for the end of the meal, when you have finished your main meal.
  • don’t eat right away. Break down sweets into portions at each meal.
  • Don’t buy a lot of sweets at once. A small portion will prevent you from overeating.
  • add interesting flavors, spices, colorful foods, etc. to your dishes. This will all make your plate so interesting and rich that you won’t want to fill the emotional gap with chocolate.

How many sweets can you eat per day

The safe norm is 10% of the daily amount of calories. That is, if you eat 1,800 calories during the day, then there should be 180 calories worth of sweets. However, these standards are subjective and are given in order to take into account other products that will be beneficial.

It is much better to change your eating habits gradually without prohibitions or restrictions.
