The Holy Prophet Haggai is a biblical prophet belonging to the 12 “minor” prophets of the Old Testament, the author of the Book of the Prophet Haggai.
Saint Haggai lived in the 6th century BC. It was he who gave a number of prophecies addressed to the Jewish king Zerubbabel, and also called on government officials to continue the restoration of the temple in Jerusalem. He convinced the people to complete the construction of the second Temple of Jerusalem and pointed out religious indifference, in which lies the main cause of all troubles. The prophet also predicted the return of the Jewish people from Egyptian captivity.
The Holy Scriptures have not preserved information about the life and work of the prophet Haggai.
Among the people, Haggai was considered the patron of pure thoughts and a mentor to good deeds. On this day, our ancestors prayed to the saint to help get rid of bad habits. They believed that if you make a promise to Haggai to yourself or others and fulfill it, then prosperity and good luck will come to your house in the new year. But if you break this word, there will be trouble and quick expenses.
