The New Year holidays have arrived, which are always accompanied by feasts. How to eat and stay healthy, reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to a post by nutritionist Oksana Skitalinskaya on Facebook.

Five important tips for New Year’s feasts

Eat plenty of fiber

Fiber is all existing vegetables, cereals, herbs, berries, fruits, legumes. Exactly in this order, that is, there are more vegetables.

Casseroles, rolls, pates, stews, stewed, pickled and fresh sliced. If the stomach and intestines are healthy – more fresh ones. If there are any problems – more in soft (baked, stewed form). Fiber is a “cushion”, an absorber of everything you add to it: fat, sugar, alcohol.

Eat less fat and sugar

All sausages fried in fat, jellied meats with a centimeter layer of lard on top, cakes and pastries with butter cream (tubes, “nuts” with condensed milk) combined into one meal will almost instantly bring your body to the state of type 2 diabetes.

The combination of sugar and fat aggravates, literally breaks the functioning of insulin receptors and the body finds itself in a state of insulin resistance. Therefore, do not fry, but simmer, adding water and baking.

Instead of baking with cream, prepare with fruit and berry filling, for example strudel with apples and cinnamon, dumplings with cherries, currants, jelly, homemade marshmallows.

Drink plenty of water

Water can be with lemon, viburnum, cranberry, pomegranate. Or dried fruit compote without sugar and without honey. By drinking water, you will want to eat less and go to the toilet more often.

Choose low-strength alcohol

Don’t finish off your liver and brain with alcohol, they are already stressed from our military life. Do not drink on an empty stomach, first provide a “pillow”. Drink weak wine, the best is wine, even better is dry. It will help meat dishes be better digested and absorbed. Alternate alcohol with water.

Don’t just eat and drink for the holidays

Try to move more, and not just eat and drink. On January 1st, walk all day to burn off the calories you gained the day before. Support our defenders, write messages to the combatants, deposit some funds into their account, help them purchase what they need.
